The Institute combines executive direction, applied architecture, research, education, outreach, and operating capacity. Roles remain visible so institutional office, research authorship, analytical warrant, and professional authority are not silently merged.

Develops NLI’s work in law, adjudicative theory, lawful closure, and legal-institutional construction.
Liberalism and conservative criticism
Martin Stepan
Studies the limits of liberalism and supplies the conservative criticism that stress-tests the Institute’s optimism and proposed reforms.

Myth, narrative, and life mission
Bryan Nova Brey
Integrates the hero’s journey, Jungian psychology, and Kurt Vonnegut’s theory of narrative into a contemporary mythological structure through which a person can interpret and direct the journey of a life.
Basic human competence
Luke Weinhagen
Develops the agency, cooperation, practical capability, and demonstrated competence required for effective individual and institutional action.
Self-formation and parenting
Noah Revoy
Develops work in self-formation, relationships, parenting, and the intergenerational transfer of agency and competence.
Civic formation and re-socialization
Moritz Bierling
Develops education, communications, group belonging, and adult re-socialization through which people can recover civic competence and overcome modern alienation.
Mathematics and logical education
Michael Surrago
Develops reforms in how mathematics and logic are taught, emphasizing first principles, games, history, and reproducible understanding.

Open Competence
The current Institute source identifies smart cities and urban systems as an open competence for which NLI continues to seek a contributor. No person is assigned to that work.
