Start an Inquiry

Tell us what problem you are trying to solve. You do not need to identify the correct audience, practice, or track before contacting NLI.

Begin With the Matter as You Understand It

NLI begins with the problem, record, forum, and useful work—not a predetermined package.

An inquiry requests review. It is not acceptance, enrollment, legal representation, preservation of a deadline, or a promise of outcome.

Choose an Inquiry Path

Applied work and education remain separate inquiries.

01

Applied Work

A dispute, institutional failure, process-created leverage, proposed settlement, governance problem, or decision requires a bounded record and defined instrument.

02

Education & Training

A course, seminar, practicum, or institutional program requires an audience, competence, format, timing, assessment, and adaptation plan.

03

Not Sure

Choose the closest path and explain the situation. NLI will route the inquiry during review.

Applied-Work Inquiry

Provide enough to evaluate fit without transmitting restricted material.

This form is for legal, institutional, civic, organizational, and settlement work. Use the guidance to provide enough information for fit review.

Identity and role

Your name, email, closest role, and counsel or professional-adviser status.

Forum and timing

The forum and jurisdiction, known deadlines, and any time-critical constraints.

Problem and blocked result

What is happening, and what decision, correction, or durable closure is blocked.

History and record

What has been filed, sent, agreed, ordered, or published; what record exists; what may be missing; and what adverse facts or prior rulings matter.

Requested result and constraints

The useful work product or institutional result, plus confidentiality, privilege, disclosure, and handling constraints.

Contacting NLI does not create legal representation, preserve a claim or deadline, authorize reliance instead of counsel, guarantee acceptance, or promise an outcome. Do not submit privileged, sealed, classified, or otherwise restricted material.

I understand the initial-contact boundary stated above.

Do not use this initial form for privileged, sealed, classified, highly sensitive, or time-critical material. NLI must first confirm a secure and appropriate intake method. Contacting NLI does not preserve a claim or deadline.

    Education & Training Inquiry

Describe the audience and the competence they must demonstrate.

This form is for courses, seminars, practicums, and institutional training—not a legal or case-related matter.

    Audience and prior knowledge

Who should participate, what they already know, and how many people the program should serve.

    Competence and assessment

What participants should be able to demonstrate and how that competence should be evaluated.

    Format and timing

The desired delivery format, schedule, duration, and institution-specific adaptation.

An initial submission requests an education review. It is not enrollment, acceptance, accreditation, or a promise of outcome.

An education inquiry requests program review; it is not enrollment, accreditation, certification, or a promise that NLI will offer or accept the proposed program.

      What Happens Next

Substantive work begins only after written acceptance and scope.

The current working fit-review estimate is $500–$1,000, subject to confirmation before payment or work.

      1

      Inquiry

NLI reviews role, problem, urgency, conflict, record, capacity, and boundaries.

      2

      Fit review

NLI identifies likely practice and track, missing material, useful instrument, authorized user, professional dependencies, and whether the proposed work is service, public-interest, or mission-aligned. Public significance may inform fit but does not determine the merits or guarantee acceptance.

      3

      Written scope

Deliverables, responsibilities, timing, fee, confidentiality, revisions, exclusions, termination, and any research, publication, advocacy, or reform purpose are agreed. Secondary use requires appropriate authority and permission.

      4

      Delivery and correction

NLI performs the scoped work, marks limitations, coordinates required review, and preserves material correction.

      Inquiry Boundary

An inquiry does not create an attorney-client relationship, authorize reliance instead of counsel, guarantee confidentiality or privilege, commit NLI to accept the matter, or promise a result.
